The product must balance accuracy, battery life, and form factor under strict constraints of BOM, space, and thermal dissipation.

The challenge usually lies in maintaining signal quality (noise, motion artifacts, fit/skin contact), ultra-low power consumption (sensing, BLE, duty-cycling, power management), and firmware reliability (time synchronization, buffers, secure OTA updates), while preserving the privacy and security of personal data across the entire chain (device–app–backend).
